Professional Experience and Responsibilities

Wendi Brown serves as general counsel for BBVA USA. She is responsible for providing general legal advice to all areas of the company, including regulatory and corporate governance matters.

A member of the BBVA USA Management Committee, Brown reports directly to U.S. President and CEO Shane Clanton.

Brown joined BBVA in 2006 as corporate counsel. She became associate general counsel in 2013 and deputy general counsel in 2018. Prior to joining BBVA, Brown was with the law firm of Miller, Hamilton, Snider & Odom, LLC, a Southeastern regional law firm in Mobile, AL where she was a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions Practice Group.


Brown graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Auburn University in Auburn, AL and graduated cum laude with a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Brown is a member of the Alabama State Bar.
