Professional Experience and Responsibilities
Michael Adler is head of Corporate & Investment Banking USA (CIB), which includes employees from BBVA USA, BBVA New York, and BBVA Securities Inc. He is responsible for client coverage teams including global, institutional, corporate, energy, and U.S. subsidiary clients. He is also responsible for all capital markets products including structured and syndicated lending, debt capital markets, transactional banking, corporate finance, interest rates, foreign exchange, and U.S. and LatAm credit trading. Based in Houston, Adler is a member of the BBVA USA Management Committee and reports to U.S. President and CEO Javier Rodríguez Soler.
Adler joined BBVA USA in 2010. From 2010 to 2013, Adler was responsible for building the bank’s national Asset-Based Lending, Financial Sponsor Coverage and Equipment Leasing lines of business. In May of 2013, Adler was appointed as a Commercial Banking Regional Executive, including responsibility for all commercial banking activities in North and Central Texas and the central Midwestern U.S. In 2013, Adler was appointed as the Commercial Banking Executive for BBVA USA. In September 2016, Adler was appointed to his current position.
Over his 33-year banking career, Adler has held executive, credit, and line-of-business leadership positions for Goldman Sachs, Fleet National Bank, ING, GE Capital and Bank of America, among others. He has extensive experience in building and leading multi-strategy lending businesses, distressed asset resolution, structured equity investing, specialty lending and corporate Finance.
Professional and Community Activities
Adler is a Governing Director of the Houston Symphony. He is a former director of the North Texas chapter of After School All Stars, which provides after-school development programs for at-risk middle school students and a former director of the Commercial Finance Conference of California.
Adler earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
