Through our LEAP (Learning, Evaluation, Application, and Placement) programs, we recruit top talent from universities across the country who we train for potential jobs within the bank. You’ll gain top-notch professional experience, enjoy valuable networking, and engage in many development opportunities through our LEAP tracks.
The LEAP Traditional track provides a thorough overview of the entire bank through extensive exposure to Consumer and Commercial Banking, Business Development, Risk Management, and other support areas.
The LEAP Tech track immerses you in our technology departments, such as Engineering, Business Software Engineering, Architecture, and other tech support areas.
The LEAP Data track allows a thorough overview of the entire bank through exposure to many lines of business. In addition to this broad perspective, participants receive extensive Data Scientist job preparation and skills training.

The LEAP program is highly competitive, with only 20-25 students accepted to participate each year. Candidates have to meet the minimum requirements to be considered, but in addition to that, we like to see previous intern experiences in applicable fields, as well as, evidence of leadership, extracurricular, and community service activities throughout your college career.
Location & Timeline
The LEAP programs start mid June- early July, with the first 6-9 months located in Birmingham, AL.
July-September (Learning and Evaluation): During the first few months of LEAP, you’ll learn about BBVA, explore various lines of business, and meet with members of our executive management team. You’ll also receive Dale Carnegie training in addition to program specific training. Based on these activities, your background, and your interests, we’ll tailor a rotation plan to you, so that you may explore various jobs within the bank.
October-December (Application): Get first-hand experience working in departments across the bank through several rotations that last approximately 6 weeks each.
After December (Placement): Once you finish the core curriculum of the program, you could be placed anywhere throughout the BBVA footprint, depending on business need.
