What’s your post-graduation plan? If it’s finding your dream job, then BBVA is the right place to launch your career.
Through our LEAP (Learning, Evaluation, Application, and Placement) programs, we recruit top talent from universities across the country who we train for potential jobs within the bank. You’ll gain top-notch professional experience, enjoy valuable networking, and engage in many development opportunities through both of our LEAP tracks.
The LEAP Traditional track provides a thorough overview of the entire bank through extensive exposure to Consumer and Commercial Banking, Business Development, Risk Management, and other support areas.
The LEAP Tech track immerses you in our technology departments, such as Engineering, Business Software Engineering, Architecture, and other tech support areas.
* Participation in the LEAP Program does not create a contract or guarantee of employment
Read the requirements below to see if you qualify:
The LEAP program is highly competitive, with only 25-30 students accepted to participate each year. Candidates have to meet the minimum requirements to be considered, but in addition to that, we like to see previous intern experiences within the financial industry (or a related field) as well as evidence of leadership, extracurricular, and community service activities throughout your college career.
Location & Timeline
The LEAP programs start mid June- early July, with the first 6-9 months located in Birmingham, AL.
July-September (Learning and Evaluation): During the first few months of LEAP, you’ll learn about BBVA, explore various lines of business, and meet with members of our executive management team. You’ll also receive Dale Carnegie training in addition to program specific training. Based on these activities, your background, and your interests, we’ll tailor a rotation plan to you, so that you may explore various jobs within the bank.
October-December (Application): Get first-hand experience working in departments across the bank through several rotations that last approximately 6 weeks each.
After December (Placement): Once you finish the core curriculum of the program, you could be placed anywhere throughout the BBVA footprint, depending on business need.
"My favorite part of the LEAP program was the amount that BBVA invested in our training. During training we were exposed to different parts of the bank through presentations, interactive activities, and projects. While this helped me to decide the best fit for me within BBVA, the training we received on leadership development, professional speaking, and networking skills were just as important if not more so."
Andrea Villavicencio; currently in Birmingham, AL
“Graduates from top universities, colleagues from all over the country, and a dedicated leadership team focusing on your development and career progression was the ideal start to my career. LEAP allowed me to grow both personally and professionally by surrounding me with incredible talent and connecting me with leaders and mentors throughout BBVA. With offices all over the country and all over the world BBVA, beginning with the LEAP program, has provided me opportunities to grow exponentially in my early career.”
Christopher Smith, currently in Denver, CO
“I am so glad I was able to participate in LEAP because, not only was I able to get hands-on experience in several of my career interests before placement, but also to create a network of friends around the bank with different interests and career paths. Because of LEAP , I am now in a career I love with coworkers that have turned into my close friends. There's truly nothing better than that.”
Brianna Walker, currently in Houston, TX
