A savings account to build a nest egg. A loan to launch a family business. A mortgage for a new home.
Every day, BBVA is creating opportunities for brighter futures for our clients. To underscore our commitment to helping people improve their lives and their futures, BBVA launched the Summer of Opportunity in June 2018. As part of this initiative, employees handed out $25 gift cards in the communities where they live and work. BBVA executives also gave out $250 gift cards to area charitable organizations that are making a difference.
The Summer of Opportunity is just one of the initiatives in BBVA’s long list of efforts to create opportunities for people who need it most:
- In February 2018, BBVA helped the Miami Dolphins kick off the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, the signature initiative of the Miami Dolphins Foundation’s health pillar. The annual event raises funds for cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami.
- In May 2018, Lakeline Station Apartments in Northwest Austin opened its doors to 128 low-income families. BBVA, worked with the affordable housing nonprofit, Foundation Communities, financed more than half of the total cost of the development.
- BBVA’s Bright Perspectives series visited Laredo, Texas, Phoenix, and Jacksonville, Florida, and brought top minds and insights to clients across the footprint. The forums provided the bank’s clients with a first-hand outlook on financial security, the economy, small business, and technological trends.
- In July 2018, the Phoenix Mercury and BBVA teamed up to award the nonprofit Backpacks 4 Kids AZ Inc.$2,500 in cash and $5,000 in Phoenix Mercury assets as part of the “Bright Futures Women in Business” program. Backpacks 4 Kids AZ, created in 2015 by Kaitlyn Martinez when she was just 11 years old, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing disadvantaged children living in Arizona with backpacks full of school supplies.
BBVA’s commitment to creating opportunities for brighter futures will continue through serving the communities where we live and work year-round.
