What is BBVA Points?
BBVA Points is an exciting rewards program for BBVA Visa® Debit Card, and BBVA Visa® Credit Card, BBVA Select Credit Card, and BBVA Visa Charge Cardholders that allows you to earn and redeem points for gift cards, travel, account credits, merchandise and more. Credit and Debit Cards earn 1 point for every $1 in qualifying purchases plus additional points through participating merchants. Debit card holders can earn points at hundreds of retailers with qualifying purchases. BBVA Select Credit Card do not qualify for Earn More.
What makes BBVA Points different from other rewards programs?
BBVA Points is one of the most flexible, easy-to-use rewards programs available. You can accrue points through by using any of your BBVA Visa® Credit card or Debit Cards. Debit and Credit cards are also eligible to earn points at hundreds of retailers. You can also combine your accounts to earn points faster. Redeem your points for an extensive selection of name brand merchandise, gift cards, travel and more!
How much does it cost to participate?
There is no specific fee associated with the rewards program, but standard rates and fees apply for use of the BBVA products to which your BBVA Points account is attached.

How can I access my BBVA Points information?
If you are auto enrolled as a Credit Card or Debit Card customer or you have chosen to register your Debit Card, you can access your BBVA Points information by visiting the websites above to log in to your account or you may call the numbers above to speak with a Customer Service Specialist.
Can I combine my BBVA Points with points earned from other programs?
BBVA includes all of its signature-based card transactions and some qualifying PIN purchase transactions (Bonus offers only) into BBVA Points and provides special bonus offers at certain times when you use your BBVA products and services. As such, points earned under BBVA Points may not be combined with or transferred to other reward programs.
Do I need to enroll my Business or Consumer Credit Cards?
Your Business and Consumer Credit Cards and Debit Cards are automatically enrolled when you open your account. You will begin earning points on qualifying transactions at that time.
Do I need to enroll my Business or Consumer Debit Cards?
You must enroll your Business and Consumer Debit Cards in order to take advantage of the available Retailer point offers. To enroll, go to www.bbvausa.com/rewards.
Why do you need detailed information from me to enroll my Business or Consumer Debit Cards?
Providing this information allows us to validate your identity as the check cardholder. Additionally, at times we may need to communicate important program information that could affect your BBVA Points experience.
Is enrolling online secure?
Yes. Your enrollment information is transmitted using a high level of encryption, and is stored on our secure server behind a firewall to protect against unauthorized access. To increase your comfort level, this website is hosted on secure servers and includes security clues such as a lock or key image at the bottom of your browser, and a web address that begins with https://. These signs indicate that only we can access your enrollment information.
We take extensive precautions to secure your enrollment information, and it is only used for the purposes of providing this service. We want you to be assured that your enrollment information is properly safeguarded.
Can I enroll my Business or Consumer Debit Cards over the telephone?
Yes. You can call the numbers listed above to register your Business or Consumer Debit Cards. Please note there will be a 10 day delay in your ability to earn and redeem points from the time you register on the telephone. For instant access, enroll online at at the websites listed above.
I have more than one Debit and Credit Card account. Will my Username work for both?
Yes, your Username will work for both, assuming you combine your accounts after registering and logging in with your first account. If you have not combined your accounts, a separate Username will be required to access your other accounts. Don't forget, Consumer and Business debit cards are automatically combined based on your checking account relationship and Business Credit Cards are combined at the business level.
How can I cancel my participation in BBVA Points?
You can cancel your participation in BBVA Points at any time by calling the numbers above.. Please note that doing so will cause you to forfeit any BBVA Points that you have accumulated in your account. If you have a negative balance, that negative balance will be carried over, should you choose to re-enroll in the program. You may re-enroll at any time if you change your mind.
What happens to BBVA Points when cards are household?
All cards that are "householded" and have earned points from qualifying purchases and any other bonus points are combined into one BBVA Points account. This allows the total points in a particular BBVA Points account to grow faster than if the cards were earning points separately. Because this total increases at a faster rate, you can redeem for more or higher-end rewards, sooner.
Can I combine my points with others in my household?
Yes, you can combine points with those people in your household living at the same address. Please request a combination by clicking here. You must request to have your accounts combined, except in the following situations where your accounts will automatically be combined:
- Business Credit Cards belonging to the same business will automatically be householded together
- Business Debit Cards associated with the same checking account will be automatically householded together
- Consumer Debit Cards associated with the same checking account will be automatically householded together
- If you combine your BBVA Select Credit Card, all cards combined will be under the rules of the BBVA Select Credit Card.
You may request to combine accounts together from both Business and Consumer accounts. There may be a delay in the combination process of up to two weeks for validation purposes.
I requested that my accounts be householded, but it didn't happen. Why?
If your request for householding was not accepted, please call the numbers listed above for more information.
What if I want to "unhousehold" my accounts?
To request to "unhousehold" accounts, you must call the numbers listed above. The points associated with the account that is being removed will also be moved with the account. Access to the points remaining in the householded account cannot be combined with the account that is removed.
How do I accumulate points?
Points are accumulated at a rate of 1 point for every $1 of qualified net purchase made with a BBVA Credit Card or Debit Card product., Additionally, all BBVA Credit Cards and Debit Cards excluding the BBVA Select Credit Card will accumulate points made through participating retailer offers, which can be found online at the website listed above under "Earn More". Prior to October 5, 2011, Debit Cards earned 1 point for every $4 of net signature-based purchases. While Credit Cards continue to earn on all purchases, Debit Cards will now only earn points by utilizing retailer offers.
How do I receive my points?
Your points will automatically show up on the Rewards Summary page , so all you have to do is shop. Then, watch you points add up! You can also view your points at the top of every web page after logging in.
What happens to my points after October 5, 2011 if I earned them on my debit cards?
Points that were earned prior to September 20, 2011 will remain in your BBVA Points account until you either redeem those points or they reach their standard three year expiration date.
Consumer and Business Debit cardholders who were enrolled in BBVA Points prior to August 1st - Your point balance remains the same.
What happens to my points after September 1 2011 if I earned them on my Simplified Line of Credit?
Points that were earned prior to September 1, 2011 will remain in your BBVA Points account until you either redeem those points or reach their standard three year expiration date.
Do my points expire?
Yes. Any points that have not been redeemed will expire 36 months from the month they were earned. For BBVA Select Credit Cards, points expire 36 months after the last transaction made.
Why were BBVA Points forfeited from my account? How can I get them back?
If you are inactive for 12 plus months (you do not make a qualifying purchase), you close your account, or BBVA closes your account for any reason, you will forfeit all of your BBVA Points. Once the points are forfeited, you cannot get them back, even if your underlying card account is reinstated or you re-enroll in BBVA Points. You will not be provided any notice of forfeiture of BBVA Points. For Signature Credit Cards, points will be forfeited if you are inactive for 24 consecutive months. This does not apply to the BBVA Select Credit Cards.
How can I earn BBVA Points faster?
By taking advantage of retail point offers on the BBVA Points site you can now earn more points per transaction than ever before. Simply visit www.bbvacompss.com/rewards and click on the “Earn More” section of the site. BBVA Select Credit Cards do not qualify for Earn More Points. Credit Card & Charge Card tip: If you are paying your bills by check have you considered using your card? You can easily locate companies that accept payment by card so you don’t miss large point earning opportunities. Just go to www.visa.com/billpay and enter your zip code to find out more.
Is there a maximum number of points I can earn?
For Business Credit Cards earning both BBVA Points and Rebate dollars, you may earn a maximum of 300,000 points per calendar year. For all other products eligible for BBVA Points, including Business Credit cards earning only BBVA Points, there is no maximum number of points you may earn.
How do I earn points?
For Business and Consumer Credit card and Debit Card Accounts:
- You automatically begin earning points with qualifying purchases when your account is open. There is no enrollment process.
- You can earn points on all qualifying purchases. Please see the Terms and Conditions for more information on qualifying purchases.
- For Business and Consumer Debit Card Accounts: You must enroll your debit card in the BBVA Points program. Once you've enrolled your card, you'll earn points when you use your enrolled BBVA Debit Card to make qualifying purchases at participating retailers which include:
- Signature-based purchases
- Internet purchases
- Phone and mail order purchases
- Most PIN purchases ( Only applicable to retail offers that send qualifying information)
- After October 5, 2011 includes any purchase made at a participating retailer that has a point offer listed on www.bbvausa.com/rewards. Offers are subject to change at any time.
How do I find my point balance?
After logging in to the BBVA Points site, click "My Profile" at the top of the page. You'll be taken to your account page where you can find current information about your account, including your point balance. If you do not have Internet access, you may call 1-87-REWARDS1 for more information.
How many points do I earn with each qualifying purchase?
For your Business and Consumer Credit Card and Debit Card:
- Earn 1 point for every $1 in qualified net purchases made
- If you make a purchase at a participating merchant, you may earn additional points based on the retail offers.
For your Business and Consumer Debit Card:
- Prior to October 5, 2011, earn 1 point for every $4 in qualified net purchases made
- After October 5, 2011, the 1 point for every $4 in qualified net purchases will be discontinued and points are earned only at participating retailers listed on www.bbvausa.com/rewards with point offers varying based on the retailer offer.
Why is BBVA Changing BBVA Points Earning Structure for Debit cards?
Due to a changing economic climate, many of our competitors have chosen to discontinue or suspend their debit rewards programs. BBVA has chosen to continue to offer a rewards program to our customers. In fact, our new program is designed to allow customers the opportunity to earn more points in a single transaction.
Do I earn points on my Simplified Line of Credit Account?
If your account was opened prior to July 1, 2011, you will earn points through September 1, 2011. After September 1, no new points will be awarded on a SLOC account. Existing points will remain in your BBVA Points account until redemption or normal expiration date, whichever comes first. If your account was opened on July 1, 2011, or later, you are not eligible to earn points on your SLOC account.
How quickly will points be credited to my account?
It can take up to 30 days for transactions to appear on the BBVA Points Activity page. If BBVA Points points from a qualified transaction do not appear after 30 days, contact customer service. Some transactions, such as online purchases, bonus points, or foreign transactions, may take longer to be posted.
I've noticed a discrepancy in my Visa card account transactions and points earned?
This may occur if some of your purchases were not qualifying purchases or if some of your points are bonus points. Also, it may take up to two weeks for some of your points earned from certain qualifying purchases to be posted to your BBVA Points account. Some transactions, such as online purchases, bonus points, or purchases outside the U.S., may take longer to post to your BBVA Points account.
Is it possible to have a negative point balance?
Yes. Returns, credits or charge backs on your Visa card account will be posted to your BBVA Points account as negative points. This may cause a negative point balance in your BBVA Points account until you make qualifying purchases that bring your balance above zero.
How do you earn more points?
By clicking on "Earn More" at www.bbvausa.com/rewards, you can browse hundreds of offers for which you can earn points on qualifying purchases made at participating retailers.
How many points can I earn with the Retail offers?
Point offers vary by retailers and can range in value from 1 point to 20 points per $1 in qualifying purchases depending on the retailer. Offers are determined by the retailer and may be discontinued or changed at any time.
Are retailer points the only points I can earn after September 20, 2011?
For Consumer and Business Debit Card customers, retailer points are the only points that can be earned after October 5, 2011. For Consumer and Business Credit Card and Debit Card customers, any points offered through the retailers will be in addition to the 1 point for $1 you already earn on your credit card or debit card currently, therefore, you can earn even more than your earning structure prior to October 5, 2011.
How do I find a list of participating retailers?
Visit www.bbvausa.com/rewards and click “Earn More” to browse the list of participating retailers. To search for a particular retailer, simply type it in the "Enter Keyword" box and the retailer will appear if it is participating in the BBVA Points program. Offers can vary and may be discontinued by the retailer at any time.
How do I redeem my points?
Redeeming is easy. Just go to the websites or call the phone numbers listed above to redeem. You can redeem for travel, merchandise, gift cards, and more.
How long does it take to receive a reward?
Generally, rewards will be sent to you within four to six weeks of placing your rewards order.
Can rewards be shipped to foreign countries?
BBVA Points only ships rewards within the United States. It does not ship to U.S. territories such as American Samoa, Guam, Marianas Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands or foreign countries.
Can I send rewards to an address other than my billing address?
No, for security purposes all shipped items will be shipped to the address on file for your BBVA Points account. If you wish to change your Credit or Debit Card billing address, please call the number listed above.
Will I be charged any shipping and handling charges?
No, we do not charge shipping or handling fees for standard delivery of rewards.
What happens if a reward I've ordered is out of stock?
Although rare, occasionally rewards will be out of stock. You will be mailed or emailed a back-order notification that will include an estimated ship date. Generally, your rewards order will be sent to you within four to six weeks of placing your rewards order, or shipped as soon as the reward is back in stock.
Can I return or exchange my rewards?
Merchandise rewards can only be returned to us if they are damaged. In the event that you receive a damaged reward, you must return the item within 10 days of your receipt of the reward. Please call the numbers listed above for return shipping instructions. Certificates, gift cards, and other non-merchandise rewards cannot be returned.
What happens to my outstanding reward orders that are still in progress if I cancel my participation in BBVA Points?
BBVA Points will send any outstanding reward orders (valid orders that have been made prior to cancellation) that are in progress at the time you cancel your participation in BBVA Points to the shipping address we have on file
How does Flexible Credits work?
Flexible Credits applies to BBVA Select Credit Cards only. You can click on a transaction from the last 60 days and choose Flexible Credit. You will then receive a credit on your credit card statement for the exact amount of the transaction.

How will you use my email address?
We will send you a monthly e-statement notification for your BBVA Points account if you opted in to receive electronic statements and updates about Earn More included in the email notifications. We may also occasionally send you promotional email messages regarding BBVA Points only. We will email you other information that impacts your participation in BBVA Points.
Why is password security important?
Information to which you have access as a BBVA Points program participant, including information about your recent card transactions, is sensitive and confidential in nature and your password is the means to access this important information. While a secure and strong password may be more difficult for you to remember, you will find that it will be worth the extra effort to better protect your program account.
What types of passwords are strongest and most secure?
When you create a password, don't use personal information such as your name, address or birth date; a spouse or significant other's name; children's names and/or birth dates; pet's name; favorite sports team; mother's maiden name; or town where you grew up. It is a good idea to combine numbers and letters when creating a password. Use a word or phrase with meaning for you (so that it will be easy to remember), but mix in numbers and capital letters to increase the security of the password.
- Examples of phrases:
"Yankee Doodle went to town" could be expressed in a password as: Ydwt4t
"I love Paris in the springtime" could be expressed in a password as: iLP1nST
- Examples of words:
"artworks" could be expressed in a password as: 1rtWork6
"ding dong" could be expressed in a password as: D1ngd0ng
Please Note: These examples are intended to provide you with some ideas about how to create a password. You should not copy any of them when you create your password. To create your personal password, choose a phrase or word that has special meaning for you and format it using your own combination of letters and numbers.
Never tell anyone else what your password is and never write your password down in an unsecured place!
What are the rules for new passwords for the BBVA Points program?
Your new BBVA Points password must be 8-15 characters and must contain at least one capital letter and a number.
How do I change my password?
Log in to your account and select "Profile". You may then change your password and security question and answer.
How often should I change my password?
It is recommended that you change your password at least two times per year. However, changing it more frequently (for example, every 90 days) will help maintain the security of your BBVA Points password.
Why am I being asked to choose a security question and answer?
Security questions and answers are required to add an additional level of security for you. These answers are unique to you and add protection and security to your account.
