What to do in the event of theft or fraud
Report identity theft and fraud
If you think you have been a victim of fraud or need to report a card lost or stolen, immediately call us at 1-844-BBVA USA. You may also report fraud and block your card via the BBVA Mobile Banking App. For additional steps, visit our “Report Fraud” page in the Security Center.
Block your debit card
Easily block your BBVA debit or credit card with the BBVA Mobile Banking App. Simply go to the card menu in BBVA Mobile Banking App and toggle card "ACTIVE" to the “OFF” position. Transactions will now be blocked while the selected card is disabled. The card will display as “Disabled” on Account Details and Manage Account screen.
Request a stop payment on lost or stolen checks or if you simply wish to halt a payment. To stop payment, call us at 1-844-BBVA USA or send a request through Online Banking via the “Service Center.” If we can, we’ll stop the payment for a one-time fee. How to help safeguard against unauthorized activity
Set up account alerts
Set up customized account alerts in Online and Mobile Banking and always know what’s going on with your accounts. Quickly identify unauthorized transactions with “Daily Activity Notices” that list your daily withdrawals and deposits, and “Check Cleared” alerts that notify you when checks clear your account.
Stop paper statements
Turn off paper statements and help protect yourself from identity theft by keeping statements out of your mailbox or trash. Access your account information and statements in Online and Mobile Banking.
Get built-in security features
Make everyday debit card purchases the safe and secure way with Visa Zero Liability* and Visa Secure. Enjoy peace of mind knowing you’re protected against fraudulent purchases made on your card. Plus, get 24/7 fraud monitoring services that alert you of any suspicious debit card activity.
Add extra account protection
As we transition to PNC, BBVA USA is no longer enrolling new customers to the BBVA ClearBenefits Program. Customers enrolled in the program prior to June 19, 2021 will continue to receive their benefits, subject to the monthly $4.00 fee.
Boost your protection against online fraud. Enroll in BBVA ClearBenefits Program, and you’ll get benefits like identity theft restoration and insurance, cell phone protection, and other great protection services. In the event of identity theft or fraud, ClearBenefits provides an extra safeguard to help protect you. The monthly fee for the ClearBenefits Program is $4.00.
